Cleaning without Harsh Chemicals

For almost a year now, I have wanted to make my own household cleaners.  I hemmed and hawed because I thought it would be more difficult than just purchasing a new cleaner from the store.  Then I saw this article from Natural Home & Garden and it is really quite easy.  I had several of the ingredients already in my home:

  • Water
  • Dish Soap (substituted for Castile soap)
  • Tea Tree Oil
  • Eucalyptus Oil

If you have never bought essential oils before, you might be a little alarmed by the price for such a small bottle.  Don’t worry, a little goes a long way and so worth the results.

I mixed the above ingredients up and poured them into an empty spray bottle and… Voila!  Disinfectant household cleaner.  So easy!

I used it immediately to clean my bathroom and kitchen.  It was so silky, smelled wonderful, and made everything super shiny.  I don’t know if I’ll ever go back to store-bought again.  My husband even agreed that it was a superior product after cleaning our other bathroom.  Check out the article from Natural Home & Garden, there are several more DIY cleaner recipes to try (I used the Germs-Be-Gone Toilet Cleaner recipe for my general disinfectant cleaner).

Oh and I forgot to mention the best part.  This wonderful, natural, non-toxic cleaner cost me less than $2.00 to make!
